What makes PTM special?
This section is primarily devoted to those wishing to book us.
Certainly there are not a lot of Celtic rock bands floating around.
However,
there
are a few additional items which make PTM unique and may not be readily
apparent,
yet make a PTM show very different than most for the venue.
Punch the Monkey uses a completely "direct" audio path (meaning we
use nearly no microphones) and in ear
monitoring
system.
We have no screaming amplifiers,
completely computerized
drums (though still played live),
and no stage monitors.... we are nearly silent on stage without a PA
system.
What does this mean to you? We can be as loud
or
as
quiet as
a
venue requires. This means we can rock your outdoor festival or cater
to a more chill indoor crowd with zero change in our setup. No more
complaints from patrons that they can't talk to each other over dinner
due to the band. And if you want a raucous wall of sound to get your
crowd moving, we are happy to do that too!
We tailor each show to the venue at hand. The stereotype of a typical
Celtic punk band is a raunchy affair.... four letter words,
lots of alcohol,
rowdy crowds. However, not every place is appropriate for such things
and we understand that. While PTM is always professional, in clubs
supporting the more adult and "rowdy" scene we can raunch the act up.
For more family oriented venues where you just
want some fun music, we can keep it clean. Punch the Monkey is very
flexible and is about a good time for all.
We play a unique genre and your house music may not reflect this. We
are always happy to play Celtic rock music before and between
sets. In
many venues this creates a nice continuity between sets and maintains
the mood. We
want to offer the audience a night of excitement which keeps them with
us.
However, if you have a juke box, an agreement with a music rights
company, or have other house music you would prefer to
use; that is great too.
Bottom line: Punch the Monkey wants to provide a show
appropriate for
the venue at hand which makes a happy audience... which in turn makes a
happy
venue and a happy band.
